Retinoblastoma is a fast growing eye cancer that affects one child a week in the UK (usually babies and children under the age of 6). 50 to 60 children a year.

Last year alone 21% of children took 6 months to receive a diagnosis. CHECT recieve no government funding , yet they play an extraordinary role in both supporting /reassuring families that have been affected by this awful cancer and in raising awareness with parents and healthcare professionals. We have to raise awareness, time is of the essence when receiving a diagnosis.

The journey for the families affected is emotionally stressful,  the cancer is rare and leaves families feeling extremely isolated, the role CHECT play is crucial. The number of visits and distance to the numerous hospitals the families have to frequently attend puts families under immense financial strain. 

We want to make sure this important charity continues to raise awareness until every health professional knows what retinoblastoma is, and ensure they are able to provide help and support to every family that has the unfortunate need to turn to them.
