Our kids, Chloe & Esme, thought it might be a good idea to try and raise some money for charity whilst on summer holiday this year ! So they are going to get us lost !

On the 14th August 2018 we are hiking from Claerwen Dam in The Elan Valley to the bothy at Moel Prysgau - approx a 10 mile round trip covering a variety of terrain - we'll be using technology to guide us there..but that will fail as there is no signal once up over the mountain so we will be relying on old school MAP reading !

We're giving up one day of our summer holiday in Wales to help and support mountain rescue teams - over the past months we've seen so many call outs and so many lives saved both here at home by Kent Search & Rescue and across the country by so many other teams! 

As Land Rover owners and with many Search & Rescue teams using same we thought that this little venture shared a kindred spirit.

Mountain Rescue services are free to those in need because the teams are staffed by volunteers, who expect nothing more than a thank you. However, equipment, vehicles and maintaining a headquarters all cost money!

Follow the adventure...it might be boring. It might be exciting. You never know what might be round the next bend. In fact, some of the bends we have driven, walked, hiked, swam have been some of the most inspiring!

Tend to spend a lot of time in Wales – and no I am not telling you
where! Do what we do…buy a map..yes a map! Take a look and find the trails and the remote places…it’s not difficult and the rewards are immense! – we’ve gone for miles without seeing a single person or car… happy days!

However, if you are going out into the wilds…go prepared…some of these
places are not “flip flop” territory! The weather in Wales can change
dramatically – one minute it is blue sky and sun burn time..the next you’ll be looking for shelter from a torrential down pour!

Whilst we go “tech prepared” we go with a back up MAP and COMPASS !  Very “old school” but it can save lives.

We actively support a number of Search and Rescue charities both on
Land, Sea and in the Air – however..what we’d like to say is never put yourself knowingly in a position where you might need them !
