3 Peaks Challenge · 8 April 2026

Weldmar Hospicecare makes every moment matter for adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, in their last twelve months. Our specialist compassionate care, given in patients' own homes and at our hospice, comes from doctors, nurses, counsellors and therapists, for patients and their loved ones.

Story

Unfortunately due to safety concerns, my attempt at the 3 peaks has been delayed until spring of 2026. I will still make the attempt however this will allow for more reliable weather and more daylight to do it in.

I’m taking on the Three Peaks Challenge on my birthday, in memory of my aunt, who sadly passed away on the 8th of April.

She spent her retirement adventuring around the world and sharing her experiences with friends and family. She was a strong believer in the value of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and encouraged the younger generation in our family to take part. She even disapproved of my 'cheating' during my Silver expedition when I had to drop out due to a foot injury — and still received the award!

In the last part of her life, she was cared for by Weldmar Hospicecare, where she spent an extended period of time. Their care was outstanding, and they supported her and our family through everything. Weldmar is a charity that relies entirely on donations to continue the incredible work they do, and I want to give something back.

So I asked myself: how can I do something challenging and meaningful, in her spirit? That’s how I landed on the Three Peaks Challenge.

As a child, I climbed Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my grandfather. Now I want to go a step further — and higher.

I’ll be attempting to summit Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa within 24 hours on the 27th of October. Conditions won’t be easy: sunrise on Ben Nevis isn’t until 07:20, meaning we’ll begin the first climb in darkness, and sunset at Scafell Pike is 16:50 — meaning both Scafell and Yr Wyddfa will likely be tackled in the dark.

Any support you can offer — through donations, shares, or encouragement — means the world. Thank you.
