Coast to Coast Hike 2025. · 12 May 2025

We are to provide clear information, and warm-hearted support, for those affected by ADHD and ADD. We want to reduce discrimination by increasing awareness and employer understanding. We advocate for political change to increase NHS resources and employment opportunities for those with ADHD and ADD.

Final Thoughts

- Prevalence of ADHD in the UK: ADHD affects approximately 5% of children and 3-4% of adults in the UK, translating to an estimated 2.2 million individuals with ADHD, including 708,000 children and 1.9 million adults.

-Rising Demand for Assessments: There has been a +700% increase in demand for ADHD services in the UK since last year, leading to significant pressure on existing healthcare resources.

- Impact on Mental Health: Individuals with ADHD are at a greater risk of mental health issues, including a x4.7-fold increased risk of suicidal behaviour compared to those without ADHD. This highlights the urgent need for timely diagnosis and treatment.

- Criminal Justice System Overrepresentation: People with ADHD are overrepresented in the criminal justice system, both as victims and perpetrators, indicating a significant societal challenge related to this condition.

- Medication Access Issues: Between 2019 and 2022, there was a 51% increase in the number of patients prescribed ADHD medications in England, amid reports of national shortages that hinder access to necessary treatments.

- Substance Misuse: Delayed diagnosis often leads to untreated ADHD symptoms, which can result in higher rates of substance misuse. Individuals with ADHD are more likely to develop dependencies on drugs or alcohol, further complicating their mental health challenges
