Angel Of Rage Returns this November for Another Night of Musical Mayhem, with the Mission of Turning Grief Into Growth

Angel Of Rage was founded in memory of our friend and family member Anj Avraam, whose battle with pancreatic cancer inspired us to create something positive from loss.

What began as a single fundraising event has grown into an annual gathering of the heavy music community, bringing people together to celebrate life, raise awareness, and support the fight against one of the deadliest forms of cancer.

Following the tremendous success of last year's sold-out Angel Of Rage event at The Marrs Bar in Worcester, headlined by the one and only heavy metal legend Blaze Bayley, we are proud to return bigger and stronger than ever for Angel Of Rage III. Thanks to the incredible generosity of attendees, artists, sponsors and supporters, the 2025 event raised over £2,300 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, helping to fund vital research, support services and awareness campaigns.

Join us once again for a night of musical mayhem, turning grief into growth, as Angel Of Rage III takes over the Frog & Fiddle in Cheltenham on Saturday 28th November 2026. Headlining this year's event are the mighty Downpour, one of the UK's most exciting melodic hardcore bands, bringing their trademark intensity and emotionally charged live performance. Main support comes from Worcestershire's own UNTO the AGES, whose powerful blend of modern metal, soaring melodies and hard-hitting riffs has earned them a growing reputation across the UK underground scene. Joining them are Birmingham hardcore heavyweights Dead Mob UK, delivering uncompromising energy and raw aggression, while Bristol-based alt-metal outfit Avicide open the evening with their crushing riffs, powerful vocals and explosive live presence. Together, these outstanding bands will help create an unforgettable evening of music, community and remembrance, all in support of Pancreatic Cancer UK and the legacy of Anj Avraam.

Who Was Anj Avraam?

The Inspiration Behind Angel Of Rage

Today, Angel Of Rage exists not only to raise funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK, but also to celebrate the life and legacy of an extraordinary individual: Anj Avraam, affectionately known to many as Big Viz.

Anj was my brother, my best friend, my soulmate in music, my mentor, my role model and my hero.

Growing up with Anj as my brother was like growing up alongside Leonardo da Vinci. Every day was filled with art, wisdom, invention, unforgettable conversations and a level of creativity that often felt years ahead of its time.

Anj was far more than just family. He was a natural-born artist, entertainer, intellectual and one of the most genuinely original people I have ever known. He was also autistic, although he did not receive a diagnosis until later in life. Despite many challenges and misunderstandings along the way, he never lost his ability to inspire those around him.

Throughout his life, Anj dedicated himself to helping others. Whether through music, art, conversation, mentoring or youth work, he had a remarkable gift for recognising potential in people and encouraging them to believe in themselves. He helped countless musicians find their voice, develop their confidence and pursue their creative ambitions. Many people who crossed paths with him left stronger, wiser and more inspired than when they arrived.

Anj's connection to music began from an early age and remained one of the defining passions of his life. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and performer, he possessed a rare ability to express himself across an astonishing range of musical styles and disciplines. Whether playing flute, piano, keyboards, guitar, various wind instruments, creating digital compositions, singing, rapping or fronting live bands, music was woven into every aspect of who he was.

By the age of just seventeen, Anj was already making his mark on the local music scene as the frontman of thrash metal band X108, whose album Something Lost... remains available today. He would later go on to front the Worcester-based nu metal outfit Wiseleaf, as well as the cross-genre band Case Closed, earning a reputation as a charismatic and fearless performer capable of commanding any stage he stepped onto. His natural presence as a frontman was impossible to ignore, and many who knew him during those years affectionately nicknamed him "Rockstar", convinced that he was destined for something extraordinary.

For Anj, music was never simply entertainment; it was a language, a means of self-expression, a way of bringing people together and a vehicle for creativity without limits. The heavy music community was where many lifelong friendships were forged, where ideas were exchanged, and where some of his happiest memories were made. In many ways, the spirit of Angel Of Rage reflects those roots. The event exists not only to raise funds and awareness, but also to celebrate the passion, creativity, individuality and sense of community that Anj embodied throughout his life. Though his journey was cut tragically short before his full potential could be realised, the impact he made through music continues to resonate through everyone who knew him and through every Angel Of Rage event that carries his legacy forward.

So much of his life was spent giving to others, often without seeking recognition in return. He possessed a rare combination of creativity, intelligence, compassion and vision that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

We shared incredible experiences together as brothers and musicians, from touring Cyprus with little more than our instruments and our passion for music, to countless performances, adventures and late-night conversations that shaped who I am today. Those memories remain among my greatest treasures.

Simply put, Anj was a true original. An artist, philosopher, mentor and visionary whose influence continues to be felt long after his passing.

Angel Of Rage was created to ensure that influence never fades.

Every event we organise, every artist we support, every friendship formed through this community and every pound raised for Pancreatic Cancer UK carries a small part of Anj's legacy forward. What began as grief has become something positive, life-affirming and enduring—a community dedicated to turning grief into growth.

Though Anj is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through music, through memory, through the people whose lives he touched and through the continuing work of Angel Of Rage.
