The mission of Sikh Women's Aid is to act as a stimulus to develop lasting positive change by actively challenging harmful belief systems and practices that act as the root cause of all forms of abuse within the Sikh and Panjabi community.

Story

I will be boxing at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Saturday 9th November for charity. Sikh Women’s Aid is a charity that has provided support and care for my family during our most turbulent times. They are a passionate team who truly want to make a difference in our community.

On the 15th December my beloved auntie Pompom was murdered by her husband (Rajveer Mahey) in her own home. She was a mother to two children and a much loved member of our family. Her smile permeated every room with happiness and she provided unconditional love to every person in her life.

This preventable tragedy has left a hole in our hearts that is being filled with injustice. It has bought us on our knees mentally, emotionally and spiritually and Sikh Women’s Aid has been with us since day one through all the highs and lows. Their efforts to empower the voiceless and bring justice to those in need of it made me want to help this charity thrive and help many more women and families out there in need.

I chose UWCB to help build myself mentally and allow me to let out all these naturally vengeful thoughts out of my mind in a disciplined and positive way. I look forward to my journey and hope we can change some lives.
