Chapel-en-le-Frith High School Year 10 Sponsored Walk for Teenage Cancer Trust

Chapel High School is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust

Year 10 sponsored walk, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, Tuesday 9th June 2026 · 9 June 2026

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Twenty-eight years ago, students from year 10 adopted the Teenage Cancer Trust as their year group charity. The Trust raises money to build and equip specialist units for young people suffering from cancer in all its forms. To quote from their literature,

“These are wards where the serious business of surviving is turned into fun and even though some of our teenagers will not survive, at least they are in a positive and friendly environment with all the support systems that they so urgently and desperately require.”

We have continued the tradition of fund raising for the Trust every year (with the exception of the Covid years) and in 2025, students were able to donate over £2,900 to them.

To support the charity, we plan to hold a sponsored walk on Tuesday 9th June starting at 3.30 p.m. and returning to school no later than 7.00 p.m. Most of the walking is off-road, taking us up near White Hall and back via Combs.

We walk the course at our own pace in small groups with members of staff walking with the students and meeting up at points along the way, but please note that there will be no direct supervision. The walk will be broken with a picnic at the farm of Mr and Mrs Hall in Combs (they have kindly said we can rest there). There will also be a BBQ back at school, where we can have some refreshments after our efforts, and the money raised there will also be donated to the charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
