Hi everyone,

Can you even begin to imagine the incredibly difficult journey a family goes through after being given the news of an MND diagnosis? The enormity of the situation and what it means, the medical process just to get to that point, life being flipped upside down, careers halted, house alterations needed and the tremendous battle to remain positive.

When you know incredible people who are going through this, it makes it all too real and it is only natural to want to help where you can. Some people can give time, skills, care, or perhaps knowledge. I, for whatever daft reason, like running long distances and sharing messages to raise awareness. If these types of endurance challenge can also raise money to help a worthy cause, then that is even better.

So, not only will I be running the 13.1 miles of my local Stroud Half Marathon on 26th October 2025 (if my injured foot lets me!), I will be running my first full 26.2 mile marathon distance on 19th April 2026 in Manchester. A challenge I am hugely excited about but also very nervous to take on.

Every step of the way, I know will be doing what I can to help friends, to support an incredible cause and make life just a little more bearable in the toughest of times.

Alongside my requirement to raise £450 for my charity place with MNDA at Manchester Marathon 2026, I am supporting the brilliant Abram family.

Paul Abram has recently been diagnosed with MND. His amazing wife Beth and all their friends and family have been taking on extreme challenges to help. The funds raised on my page here will all go to the MNDA, any funds donated on Beth's page will be split to help them directly, with the rest having a wider impact through the MNDA. So if/when I achieve my target, we shall turn our attention here.
