Story

On Sunday 27th April 2025, I will be participating in the Glasgow Kiltwalk travelling a total distance of 23miles from Glasgow Green to Balloch, Loch Lomond raising money for SAMH.

I’m raising money to support a charity who are aiding people throughout Scotland to tackle their mental health. SAMH believe in providing mental health care and support to all throughout Scotland.

I believe that sport and physical activity has a massive impact on my own mental health and physical well-being. SAMH work alongside others in bringing physical activity and sport to help improve mental well-being.

As a lover of sport and taking care of myself, I take vital steps to structure workouts and prioritise my diet on a daily basis. However, sometimes I forget to take care of my mental well-being and have found myself struggling.

One of the many reasons I was drawn to this charity was because of one of the programmes that they currently provide called The Changing Room. The Changing Room aims to promote Mens mental health through the power of football.

As a massive football fan and lover of the sport, I felt this was an exceptional reason to raise money for this charity.

Us guys don’t like to talk about how we’re feeling but we love to spend hours discussing tactics and reminiscing about past players. This programme aims to change that and make talking about what’s on our minds easier in the comfortable environment of a football ground with similar minded people.

I’ve often found myself finding it easier to discuss what’s going on in my life whilst I’m distracted by the beautiful game on the TV.

Therefore I will be aiming to complete this walk as a physical and mental challenge all whilst raising some money for charity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and any support during the walk is very much welcomed.
