Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. On Sunday 7th April 2024 I will be running my first marathon in Paris in support of Lia’s Wings Charity.

I am hoping to raise £1000 for this very wonderful cause. Any contribution will be so helpful and greatly appreciated.

Lia’s Wings (formerly Lucy Air Ambulance for Children) was started in 2010 and was established in response to an urgent need for an air transfer service for critically ill children. They are the only UK charity that flies children using aeroplanes. Around 100 children need an emergency air transfer to hospital each year and without this service these children would not get the immediate medical attention required by them.

Lia’s Wings supports children with cancer, auto-immune diseases, cardiac and respiratory illnesses, premature births, transplants and where there is no diagnosis due to the rarity of the condition.

Last year Nathaniel was flown from Newcastle to London for life-saving Brain Tumour surgery and Elisa at one month old from London to Germany for life-saving treatment. In total, Lia’s Wings flew 32 children in 2023. In the first weekend of 2024 a child was flown from Leeds to Glasgow after receiving a liver transplant.

On a personal note, I am running the Paris Marathon 39 years after my father ran the same course in May 1985 with a time of 3hrs27mins…anywhere close to that and I will be happy.
