My brothers and sisters I sincerely hope that you are well. I am sure that you are aware of the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The people of Gaza have been subject to decades of suffering. Over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, almost 20,000 of whom were children, and almost 30,000 are women and girls. Almost 2 million people are now displaced due to breaches of International Law confirmed by the ICJ and UN. Innocents are now starving as they are at risk even just going to "safe zones" to collect water, food and other basic aid fundamental to their survival. To many, these are just numbers, but each of these is someone's mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son or friend. We have a duty to help in any way we can, as this is no longer about politics or religion, it’s a humanitarian crisis!

As such, we are teaming up with Al-Khair Foundation to raise money for those most in need. They are a very reliable charity as most of you will know, with operations in Gaza for over a decade. I have received vindication of their reliability from various sources, including teachers from Schools Without Borders (who have teachers in Gaza that can attest to their aid distribution), not to mention that the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs is helping to rebuild Al-Khair Hospital in Gaza (which was attacked as you may have seen in the news previously). In addition to this, they have a 100% donation policy! So you can be reassured that all of your money will definitely go towards the Palestinians in need.

Our aim is to purchase supplies for Cargo Trucks going into Gaza. To buy 1 truck worth of food supplies is £30,000, one with medical supplies is £50,000, and one with flour is £15,000. The goal we will be setting is one of each, which totals to £95,000!

In addition, shortly after the climb, a few of my fellow climbers and I will be going to Cairo to assist in their warehouse operations (packing and loading aid into the cargo trucks) and see the process. However, all costs related to this (flights, accommodation, etc) will come from our own pockets!
