In September, I’ll be climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, to raise money for Bassetlaw Hospice, in memory of Rachel, my fiancé’s mum, who we sadly lost in 2024.

Rachel spent the final month of her life at Bassetlaw Hospice, where she was cared for with incredible dignity, kindness and compassion. The staff not only looked after Rachel so beautifully, but also supported the whole family during an incredibly difficult time.

Their warmth, patience and understanding extended to every visit, and helped make a very painful period feel a little gentler for all of us.

I’m taking on this challenge as a way of saying thank you, and to help ensure Bassetlaw Hospice can continue to provide the same level of care and support to other families when they need it most.
