I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to take part in the Scottish Football for Rwanda programme. Over 10 days we’ll be travelling to Rwanda with a group of young Scottish players and experienced youth coaches, working to support grassroots football through coaching, donating equipment, and engaging with local communities.

In the mornings we’ll visit schools, outreach centres and ex‑street‑kid projects, as well as genocide memorials, to learn more about Rwanda’s history and the resilience of its people. In the afternoons we’ll be on the pitch: delivering training sessions to children of all ages and abilities, helping local coaches where possible, and sharing in the joy of the game together.

Things like lack of equipment, resources and access to coaching mean many young people in Rwanda don’t have the same opportunities as we do—but together we can make a difference. I am so keen to learn more about their lives, their culture, and their hopes for the future, and I believe this experience will be life‑changing for everyone involved.
