This May, as part of my Dog Sports Club, Barking Mad Dog Services’ “Four Paws Up For Cancer” fundraising events, I’m taking on a personal challenge close to my heart. Alongside my trusty four‑legged sidekick, Sid, I’ll be walking an average of 7 miles a day to reach 200 miles in 31 days.

That’s not all — Sid and I will also be taking part in several dog sport events throughout the month, including Barking Mad’s Charity Hoopers Show, where I’ll be both judging and competing, and a Charity Beach Walk. Funds raised will be going to Maggie’s and the Cancer Ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital, who have provided vital support to someone very special to me — my wonderful friend and dog family sister, Laura.

In October 2025, at just 32 years old, Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer, turning her world upside down. Since then, she has faced six rounds of intense chemotherapy and undergone a full left breast mastectomy. This is not the end of Laura’s journey — she is still waiting for results and clarity on what the next steps will be, and what her future may hold.

Laura wouldn’t be where she is today without the outstanding medical care she received from the Cancer Ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital, alongside the emotional support, counselling, and comfort provided by Maggie’s North Wales, based at the hospital. Their kindness and support have made an immeasurable difference during the hardest moments.

I am incredibly proud to support the vital work these charities do — not just for Laura, but for so many people facing cancer battles of their own.
