Story
On 11 October, Lylah, Amar and Jo took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of Forgotten Patients, Overlooked Diseases.
They ran to raise funds for a cause that is incredibly important to us. Forgotten Patients is dedicated to improving awareness, understanding and care for people living with enduring symptoms and medically unexplained conditions.
Our runners completed the 13.1-mile (21.1 km) challenge:
Lylah Drummond-Clarke is a cancer researcher at the University of Sussex, where she is currently working towards her PhD. She is also a science writer at St Giles Medical, London & Berlin.
Amar Datta is an Index Equity Portfolio Manager at UBS Asset Management in London.
Dr Jo d’Arcy is a consultant cardiologist and cardiovascular imaging specialist in Oxford.
Millions of people experience symptoms that are difficult to diagnose and may spend years searching for answers. They can face uncertainty, delayed treatment and a lack of support. Through education, research, advocacy and collaboration, Forgotten Patients is working to ensure these patients are no longer overlooked.
The run is complete, but you can still donate. Every donation, whatever the amount, will help us continue this work and improve the lives of patients and their families. Thank you for supporting our runners and helping us give a voice to people who are too often forgotten.
