Freyja’s Calling Partners with Shoreham Academy for Charity Hike Supporting Mental Health

Freyja’s Calling has joined forces with Shoreham Academy to raise funds for the charity Legend on the Bench. On Sunday, 13th July, the “Freyja’s” team will take on the challenge of hiking a full marathon across varied terrain in support of this important cause.

Shoreham Academy is proud to support this initiative, aiming to raise enough money to install a dedicated bench on the school grounds. This bench will be available to the community as a quiet place for reflection, support, and connection during difficult times.

Freyja’s Calling was founded by Daniel Gainsford to champion women’s mental health. The group exists for women who feel they need something—a space, a sense of accountability, and the time to begin taking meaningful steps toward their overall wellbeing, whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. While not a registered charity, Freyja’s Calling is a passionate team committed to pushing their limits to help others—many of whom are tackling a marathon hike for the first time.

The beneficiary charity, Legend on the Bench, provides community benches equipped with QR codes that link individuals to vital support resources during challenging times. Founded by former professional footballer Micky Hazard and his sister Michelle, the charity honors the memory of Michelle’s son, Jason Lee Mead, whose tragic passing inspired their mission to reduce suicide and mental health-related deaths.
