Gem's New York Marathon challenge

New York City Marathon 2024 · 3 November 2024 ·
I think you'll agree, Willow has the most beautiful smile and I can tell you first hand, it really is as infectious as you see in the photo.
I've had the honour or meeting Willow a few times now and every time I do, she is the happiest of little girls; on a mission to reach the sweet table last time I saw her, which is the priority of most children of Willows age, but sadly, Willow isn't like most children.
Willow was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the tender age of 3 and will have daily, 4 weekly and 12 weekly chemotherapy, until May 2025.
Despite the gruelling treatment Willow undergoes, that beautiful smile stays with her and is at the forefront of my mind every time I head out the door to train for the New York marathon.
Every time I think "this feels tough" I think of the sheer strength and determination Willow shows during days that really are TOUGH and it reminds me to put my big girl pants on and stop moaning!
Cure Leukaemia currently provide funding for a network of Research nurses that open pioneering clinical trials for adults in the UK when they have exhausted treatments available as standard of care.
That network is not currently available for children and Cure Leukaemia is on a mission to reverse that trend.
As the training increases and the marathon gets closer, Willow will remind me why I'm doing this and why continuing to raise money is so important.
Any pennies you are able to spare will go along way towards setting up this network, thank you.
