Graeme and Martin's fundraiser for SBDSG

Graeme Card is raising money for SBDSG

Two old school chums (Martin Sullivan and Graeme Card) are walking the Camino Ingles for Charity. We will walk from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela · 2 September 2025

South Bucks Down’s Syndrome Group (SBDSG) was registered as a charity in 2003. It was formed by a group of parents who wished to create opportunities for connection and community through running activities, groups and outings for local people with Down’s syndrome, their families and carers. We are affiliated with the national Down’s Syndrome Association. SBDSG is run by a group of volunteer Trustees, all of whom have a family member with Down’s syndrome or who themselves have the condition. Our aim remains to offer ways for our community to connect and make friends, have fun together, and support one another.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Two old school chums (Martin Sullivan and Graeme Card) are walking the Camino Ingles for Charity. We walked a section of the Camino Portuguese last year and gluttons for punishment felt we should do one again.

This year we are raising funds in aid of South Bucks Downs Group (SBDSG) –a small charity of which Graeme is a Trustee that provides activities for people with Downs Syndrome in South Bucks. The Charity means a lot to Graeme as his fabulous daughter Emily (who is aged 32) just happens to have Down's Syndrome. Martin is keen to support people with learning disabilities and their families too and has kindly agreed to help keep Graeme from getting lost in Galicia.

The walk itself will be 118 Km/73 Miles through Galicia, in Northern Spain, and will start at the coastal city of Ferrol. All being well and ably aided by the wonderful team at Galiwonders it will end at Santiago de Compostela.

SBDSG is a great charity – run entirely by volunteers all of whom have a family member who has Down’s Syndrome, and I am sure you would love to dig deep into that sofa and find a few coppers to support us. If nothing else to ensure Martin and I suffer for 73 miles in each other’s company.
