Gretna to Groats for The Ayrshire Hospice

Anne Noble is raising money for The Ayrshire Hospice

Gretna to Groats run

We provide expert care and support for people across Ayrshire living with life-shortening illness, and those closest to them. Our aim is to help people live well, with comfort, dignity and choice. Every person and moment matters - and with our community’s support, we’re here when it matters most.

Story

For a long time I’ve wanted to embark on a journey through Scotland, inspired by great adventures such as Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Kidnapped”. There’s a strong connection to be made with our land when we explore it on foot, and what a beautiful land! Having lived in Ayrshire for many years I was aware of the great work done by Ayrshire Hospice and the charity's positive impact in what is often the hardest of times for people. Since starting as a volunteer for Ayrshire Hospice in July 2025 I've seen up close the charity's impact and know how crucial donations are, which is why I've chosen to fundraise for them on this great adventure. The plan is to run from Gretna Green to John O’Groats in July, travelling through Dumfries (past the house where I was born) into my hometown of Ayr which is, of course, where The Ayrshire Hospice is based. From Ayr, along parts of the Ayrshire Coastal Path, Clyde Coastal Path, West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and John O’Groats Trail. I’d be grateful for any sponsorship that you can offer which will help support the amazing work which the Ayrshire Hospice does to support local people with life-shortening illness, and their loved ones, both at the hospice and in the community. https://www.ayrshirehospice.org/

This is a team effort, along with my husband and my daughter Amy providing support, so thank you in anticipation from The A Team!
