The Innovation Team will be taking part in The Fan y Big Challenge, the longer of the two walks. This challenging hike will cover 22km of varied and rugged terrain, taking the team along well-known trails and less-trodden paths, leading to the dramatic summit of Fan y Big (717m).

The Innovation Team invites staff from Velindre University NHS Trust and the Welsh Blood Service to form their own teams and get involved in this extremely rewarding challenge.

This is an exciting opportunity for staff to come together and raise funds for a cause that's close to the hearts of everyone at Velindre and the Welsh Blood Service.

About the Innovation Team

The Innovation Team’s mission is to drive continuous improvement and breakthrough innovations in cancer and blood services by fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and excellence. This work is often aided by charitable funds from Velindre Cancer Charity, which is helping with innovation projects such as the Welsh Health Drone Partnership, Bright Ideas, RITA and the formation of a collaboration Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation.

Charitable funds have also been used to run the Advanced Radiotherapy Fund, and the Advancing Radiotherapy Cymru projects. This funding will accelerate important radiotherapy developments at Velindre by supporting the funding of important staff posts, improving our ability as a cancer centre to recruit and retain staff members, and supporting the radiotherapy workforce at Velindre. That's why the Innovation Team is extremely keen to take on this challenge and they encourage and invite others to join them in this adventure!
