Story
You know me; I like birds, bugs and laying in fields...but do you know what I like most?
Being able to do all those things locally and in safe, maintained environments.
Managing more than 40 nature reserves across the North East, DWT are constantly maintaining and conserving our local green spaces meaning we can enjoy them while taking the dogs out, having a walk or going for a picnic.
Funds raised go directly back into the places that we see on the daily. Some places Include:
Middleton St.George, Darlington, Beamish & Spennymoor are only some of the many places DWT have reserves.
They also work with other organisations to maintain Durham's Heritage Coastline.
Since 2021, more than 4,500 volunteers have supported more than 300 beach cleans and collected more than 5,175 bags of rubbish from beaches that we've probably been to this summer...cheers guys.
Their Heart of Durham project offers workshops from Derwent Reservoir to Hamsterly Forest.
They're literally helping to replant forests on our backdoor steps.
Throughout the next year, I'll be doing stupid stuff and asking you for money in order to raise money for a great local cause and of course, to do the Great North Run.
Again, all of the money raised for Durham Wildlife Trust funds local nature reserves and restoration projects here where we live.
They are a fantastic small charity who have a big impact.
