I'm raising funds for hospice in honour of my amazing mum

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
On 9 March I’ll be running the Thames Meander Marathon and on 27 April the London Marathon. These runs have a deeply personal purpose: to honour my incredible mum, who passed away on 18 March 2024, just ten days after being diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to her brain and throughout her body.
The devastating news came on 8 March 2024 – which happened to be International Women’s Day, one I'll never forget. It was a complete shock – our powerhouse mum had been ice skating and chopping wood for her farmhouse only weeks before, thinking she had nothing more than a cold. Her passing has left a void that can never be filled, but her love and strength remain my driving force.
To mark the one-year anniversary of her passing, I’m dedicating these marathons to her memory. Mum was the most compassionate mother, a devoted teacher and midwife, and a loyal friend. She touched countless lives with her kindness and care.
I'm raising funds for Hospice UK, whose tireless work supports over 200 hospices across the country, delivering personalised care to over 300,000 people every year. Hospices are underfunded and under immense pressure, but they provide extraordinary care during life’s most difficult moments—helping both those transitioning and their loved ones.
Every penny raised will make a difference. Your support will not only honour my beautiful mum but also help ensure that others receive the vital care they need.
I miss her every single day and still can’t believe she’s gone. Please join me in making this tribute to her life and legacy truly meaningful.
