Jade & Jordan's Jump for Parkinson's Care and Support UK

Jade Dowd-Guest is raising money for Parkinson's Care and Support UK

SkyDive from 13,000ft · 14 June 2025

Every hour two people are told they have Parkinson's. It can affect anyone and there is currently no cure. We work tirelessly to improve quality of life for people with Parkinson's and their carers, whilst funding non-pharmaceutical research to prevent, slow down, reverse and cure Parkinson's.

Story

Hi, Jade & Jordan here and we're terrified of heights. But on 14th June 2025, we'll be facing my fear head-on by jumping 13,000 feet out of a plane! As nerve-wracking as that sounds, it’s nothing compared to the challenges our family has faced over the past year.

In May 2024, our amazing stepdad Mark was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at just 47 years old. Watching how this progressive disease has impacted his life has been heart breaking.

Mark has always been the kind of person who would take on anything. Whether it was fixing things around the house, tinkering with cars, or even helping me convert my VW T4, he tackled every job with enthusiasm. He loved gaming, fishing, and playing darts. Unfortunately, Parkinson’s has taken much of this away from him. Even simple joys he used to love are now a struggle.

Mark has always worked so hard, often in managerial roles where he thrived. But now, he’s had to cut back to four days a week and can no longer hold meetings—something he once did effortlessly.

What is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s is a progressive brain condition caused by the loss of nerve cells in the brain, leading to a lack of dopamine. Dopamine is essential for regulating movement and many other body functions. Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect physical movement—it also causes mental health challenges and a wide range of other health issues. With over 40 known symptoms, it’s a degenerative condition that currently has no cure.

Why we're Skydiving...

We're doing this skydive to raise money for Parkinson’s Care and Support UK, an incredible organisation that helps those living with Parkinson’s and supports their families and caregivers. Their work is life-changing, and every penny raised will go toward making a real difference in the lives of people like Mark.

The photo is of us with Mark, showing off our new t-shirts. Our hope is that, with more awareness and funding, others won’t have to face the same challenges we’ve faced.

How You Can Help...

Your support means the world to us and my family. Please consider donating, no matter how small. Every contribution gets us closer to providing better care, support, and one day, maybe even a cure for Parkinson’s.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining me on this journey and supporting such an important cause.

Let’s do this for Mark and the thousands of others living with Parkinson’s. 💙
