50 Mile Sponsored Walk · 10 August 2024

The Kirkwood exists to improve the quality of life for local people, against all odds. We help those in our care to live well and make the most of every single day. We make the complex simple by focusing on what's important, and we support families and loved ones to live on and live well.

Story

We will walk 50 miles on 9/10th August to raise funds for The Kirkwood.

On day 1 we will walk from The Shepherd's Boy Pub Dewsbury / Batley / Birstall / Birkenshaw / Cleckheaton / Scholes / Brighouse / Bradley Bar / Huddersfield Town FC / Miller & Carter / Mirfield / Ravensthorpe / Dewsbury = 25miles

On day 2 we will walk from The Shepherd's Boy Pub Dewsbury / canal to Ossett / around the town / down through Earlsheaton / Dewsbury / West Riding Pub / round Dewsbury Park and back to The Shepherd's Boy (twice) = 25miles

The Kirkwood looked after Natalie and our family in her final moments. The care that Natalie received in her final stages was provided with dignity and respect. The support that we received during this time and afterwards helped us to come to terms with our loss.

Our family will forever be indebted to The Kirkwood and the service that they offer in our community. The families in Kirklees and beyond are lucky to have his service which offers respite and end of life care for those who need it.

Natalie loved to walk - In her memory we will walk 50 miles to honour what would have been her 50th Birthday year. She is forever missed and will forever be our inspiration. Her legacy continues and we know she would be proud of everyone who takes part in our event.

No matter how big or small your contribution:

Your £10 donation could fund a virtual wellbeing session for a patient living with heart failure.

A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.

£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.

The Kirkwood are here to support anyone affected by a life limiting illness, every step of the way. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover. Your support means we’re here for them.

Please support our 50 Mile Sponsored Walk.

All donations are essential for this service and those that need their care xx
