Joshua's MMA Fight for Fight for Sight

Ultra MMA Nottingham 23rd March 2025 · 23 March 2025 ·
On the 23rd March I am competing in an MMA fight in support of my Grandma, who completely lost her sight last year. By fighting at this event, I hope to raise money and awareness to those that have their own battle against blindness every single day.
Imagine being told that someone you love is losing their sight. At the beginning of 2024 this was the unfortunate truth that my family faced finding out my Grandma’s sight had been deteriorating at a faster rate then anyone knew.
She already had poor vision after having a cateract and glaucoma and being the warrior she is, she didn’t want to worry anyone however my mother and uncle noticed and got her surgery treatment to attempt to stop her sight getting worse.
The chances of success were unfavourable and while the operation seemed to be a success at first, unfortunately it ended up with my beloved Grandma completely loosing sight in both eyes.
In that moment, the trajectory of life completely changed for my Grandma with so many questions on how she’s going to carry on living life living alone and changes to her lifestyle that needed immediate answers.
Fight for Sight is a charity who raise money and invest it in scientific research that could save sight and social change projects that will change lives. That includes scientific research grants and innovative social change projects. They also invest in advocacy and innovation.
Together, let's save sight and change lives to prevent more people having to go through this fate and so our loved ones, such as my Grandma, have a community and family she can rely on to understand how hard what she’s dealing with is and help make her life just as enjoyable as with sight.
