In June this year, I will be part of a small group of volunteers travelling to South Africa as part of Friends of Africa’s Global Solidarity Project 🇿🇦🌍

For four weeks we will be working on youth development projects in the North West Province. These projects include delivering personal and social development workshops focused on gender equality and working with vulnerable young women who live in poverty to promote a shared education and learning for life programme.

Each volunteer who travels overseas with Friends of Africa will have attended a series of preparatory training sessions and will have an OCN accreditation in youth work before departing. This will aid us in running summer camps for the local teenagers and young adults to include a variety of sports, formal English tutorials and informal youth workshops addressing health and social issues, as well as celebrations of culture and diversity.

🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️ in an effort to boost the fundraising I will also be running the Great Manchester Run (half marathon distance) on 21st May this year 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️ with all proceeds going directly towards our projects this summer and supporting our partners 🇿🇦🌍
