In 1986 I lost my Dad to Cancer. The Macmillan Nurses were there for him and Mum in his final weeks and as I've reached my 50th year I wanted to raise money in his memory.

As children we spent almost every holiday in the Lake District and walked for miles and miles. This Mighty Hike challenge will see me walk just shy of a marathon distance taking in some of the sights I haven't seen since I was a small boy. It will be an emotional day for me but hopefully Dad will be looking down with pride and I shall remember the lines of a song he used to quote "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" to see me through to the end.
