Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2022, my son, Cameron, died from SADS. Up to that point he was a fit & well 17 year old with a passion for music. He passed away in his sleep with no warning and I found him the following day in his bed.
I had intended to ride The Rawlinson Bracke in 2023 in his memory, but a trials bike accident two weeks before the event, resulting in an ACL rupture put paid to that plan. Two years later after ACL reconstruction surgery, and a battle through physiotherapy, which has been severley hampered by Long Covid, and with the support of a great group of freinds , I am about to attempt to do this event. This year, we will be doing the shorter route, with less climbing, but our plan is to come back again in a year or two and do the bigger event.
In Cameron's memeory, we will be raising funds for OurJay Foundation. a charity started in memory of Jamie Rees who also died from SADS in 2022. OurJay Foundation raise money and source and install 24/7 publicly accesible defibrillators around the midlands (centreed on Rugby where Cameron and Jamie both died). I am a Defibrillator Guardian for OurJay, looking after the maintenance of 6 Defibrillators in Leamington Spa, and I also host a Defibrillator on my house in Temple Herdewyke. The devices are the first line in defence against Cardiac death, as their availability cenhances the chances of the patient remaining alive long enough for a Paramedic crew to arrive and do thier job.
