I have volunteered at Cruse for around 13 years now and it has introduced me to some truly amazing people who are battling with the emotions which follow the death of someone close.

When I received a note to say I had a place in the London Marathon, I thought it was a scam. I could easily have said no, but instead took it as a sign that I should accept and do something important with it.

The day was fantastic. There are so many negative stories in the news but the reactions of the crowds in London to those who need support are truly amazing.

I’d urge anyone who has ever considered doing the marathon to apply. You will never forget it.
