LSEG Cycle Challenge: Raid Pyrenean · 14 September 2023
On September the 14th a group of competent LSEG cyclists (and me!) will set out on the Raid Pyrenees in aid of Blood Cancer UK. A 100-hour ride from Hendaye on the Atlantic Coast to Cerbere on the Mediterranean. The only thing in our way... 750km and 15,000m of climbing across the Pyrenees.
Given the closest thing to a mountain I have cycled up is Toys Hill in Kent (with a modest 244m elevation), this is either very ambitious or extremely foolish!
I am raising funds in support of Blood Cancer UK. This is a very personal charity for one of the participants of this year's ride as a member of their family has recently been diagnosed and is undergoing treatment.
The trip is self-funded so all donations will go directly to the charity and will be fund-matched up to £2,000 by the LSEG Foundation. All donations will therefore be much appreciated, and will no doubt spur me on when the enormity of the challenge actually dawns on me half way up the first climb!
A little about Blood Cancer UK...
We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments, and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
