Philipp's fundraiser for Shooting Star Children's Hospices

Cape Wrath Ultra · 18 May 2025
After 15 years at Hampton, I've been awarded a sabbatical term and I kicked it off in style with the Cape Wrath Ultra, one of the UK’s toughest multi-stage ultra-marathons.
This was no gentle jog through the Highlands. The Cape Wrath Ultra threw everything at me — 400km of mountains, bogs, heatwaves, midges, and, just for good measure, gale force winds and sideways rain to finish. It was tough, relentless, and at times downright savage — and I absolutely loved it.
This year's event highlight movie is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7eJ_HkGeO8
It took me 65 hours and 31 minutes, placing 36th out of 86 finishers – very happy with that, especially considering that fewer than half of the participants managed to complete the full course. I’m proud to have taken it on in support of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, which provide vital care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as support for their families across Surrey and London. Whether a child’s life is measured in days, weeks, months, or years, Shooting Star ensures every moment counts, offering nursing, practical, emotional, and medical care. Every penny of sponsorship goes directly to the charity, and donations, no matter the amount, are very much appreciated - you can still donate!
I am deeply grateful for the generous support from all of you that helped carry me across the finish line.
