World Firefighter Games: Toughest Firefighter Alive

Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service

Story

In 2001 I joined Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service. I have had the good fortune to work alongside some of the most kind and inspirational people.

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service existing in its current form. It coincides with the World Firefighter Games being held in Aalborg, Denmark.

To raise awareness of the work of the Fire Fighters Charity and help support them financially I will compete in the flagship event of the games: the Toughest Firefighter Alive.

No really. That's what it's called.

I'm asking for sponsorship for a Charity that has helped friends of mine when they needed it most.

The Fire Fighters Charity is there for every member of the UK’s fire service community, helping them all to live healthier and happier throughout their lives.

The Charity supports past and present fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role, as well as spouses, families and many other eligible individuals across a diverse community of around 300,000 people.

Our fire and rescue services are always there for us when we need them, helping us at the lowest and most terrifying moments of our lives. To do that, they need to be physically and mentally well, at work and at home.

The Charity’s role is therefore to ensure that it’s there for them, for life, working as their health and wellbeing companion, supporting every aspect of their lives to ensure that they can be there for you when you need them.

The Charity offers a range of services to help the whole fire family look after their wellbeing – from expert support and advice over the phone, online or in-person, to support groups for retirees, a Wellbeing Hub full of online resources and much more.

However, it couldn’t provide any of this life-changing support without your help, so please donate what you can now to make a huge difference to the UK’s fire family. Visit www.firefighterscharity.org.uk to find out more.
