Sam's Kayak challenge for The Message

Kayak · 30 June 2025
Life works a bit like a river. Sometimes it's smooth going and sometimes you have to deal with twist, turns, and massive rocks trying to tip you over.
The Message Trust works with those who are poor, disadvantaged, deprived and marginalised, at risk of reoffending or who have poor employment potential. In other words, people who have had more than their fair share of life's twists, turns and rocks in their way.
I'm raising money to help The Message continue it's amazing work by doing a sponsored Kayak down the River Mersey and Bridgewater canal in south Manchester. Our planned route is about 10 miles, but I'll keep paddling 1 EXTRA MILE for every £100 I raise above my target! So please give generously!
Some of the great initiatives of The Message you'll be helping to support are:
The Community Grocery - bridging the gap between foodbanks and supermarkets, providing affordable food and wrap-around support and courses for our members.
RespectME - school's courses, working with young people across the UK deal with things like relationships, self-harm, substance abuse, or exploitation.
No More Knives - equipping young people to say ‘no’ to knives and discover their full value, working in partnership with local churches and the police.
Message in Prisons - providing regular, long-term, accredited education courses alongside friendship and care to men, women and teenagers in prisons across the UK.
