Story
Having ran my first marathon last year I said I would never run another..............turns out that is not true!!!
I think I was tricked (Mr T????), but my ambition was always to do the London Marathon and somehow I got a place for 2023. I then realised I had actually signed myself up for 2.5 marathons in 2.5 months - not wanting to turn down a challenge here I am!!
* 23 April 2023 - London Marathon (target time sub 4 hrs)
* 28 May 2023 - Edinburgh Half Marathon (target time 1.45 hrs or below.........I have no idea whether I can speed up this much 5 weeks after London but I will give it a good go!)
* 15 July 2023 - Macmillan Mighty Hike, Northumberland - I will be walking the marathon of 26.2 miles from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh
What's my motivation? To raise money for Macmillan. When I embark on this challenge it will be 5 days before the 8th anniversary of losing my Dad to cancer. He was the person who instilled in me, amongst many things, I can do ANYTHING if I put my mind to it! 😬💪🏻
For anyone who has been (ironically) unfortunate enough to be touched by Macmillan you will know just how special it is, in their words - 'Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.'
The support Macmillan provided to Dad during his battle, and our family, both during and after, was immeasurable and that is something they undertake every hour of everyday. The hole that was left losing Dad will always remain, and I miss him everyday, but I do take comfort in knowing he will be laughing hard 😂 about the girl who spent so many years dodging ANY form of physical activity now doing this in his memory 💕
Any donation no matter how small will be very much appreciated.
Sarah xx
p.s Dad I will forgive you for those budgie smugglers if you can forgive me for that shell suit!!😳
