Leap of Faith! 2023
Campaign by Genesis Trust (RCN 1154253)
Be Brave! Leap of Faith! 2023 is a challenging abseil from the top of the Bath Abbey Tower. It's a stunning view at the top, a great challenge on the way down and a wonderful sense of achievement at the bottom!

Story

Our Paragon team will be taking up the Leap of Faith! 2023 challenge of abseiling down the Bath Abbey Tower on Saturday 11th March from 12.00pm. Please sponsor us and encourage us to be brave! Your support will enable Genesis Trust, our chosen charity this year, to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Bath area to find new beginnings and better futures and Bath Abbey to support sustainable city heritage. Here's why our abseil team of 6 are taking the challenge:

Rosie: "I am proud to be stepping off Bath Abbey in support of the Genesis Trust! I am taking on this challenge to represent pupils and staff at The Paragon School, who have nominated the Genesis Trust as their charity for this year. I hope to embody the Paragon value of self-belief as I tackle what will be a big personal challenge for me; I really don’t like heights at all! I have been working on my fear over the last few years, and feel ready for this big step. Thanks for any support you can offer the Genesis Trust on behalf of our school community."

Sarah: "I am delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile, local charity which helps vulnerable people in Bath. I signed up to complete the 'leap of faith' to raise awareness of what the Genesis Trust does and also to help conquer my own fear of hights, showing the children in our school that you are never too old to challenge yourself!"

Grace: "I am so excited (and rather scared) to be abseiling down the Abbey! This will be my abseiling debut and a brilliant opportunity to support The Genesis Trust, whilst enjoying a bird's eye view of lovely Bath!"

Liz: "I’m “putting my brave on!” - I always encourage my son to grab opportunities, challenge himself, and ‘put his brave on’. After visiting Genesis food bank a few weeks ago, seeing the extent of supplies required and hearing extraordinary tales of the need for food banks in Bath, this seemed the ideal opportunity to make a difference. I want to show my family and son especially, that mama can add value and be brave too. I can’t wait to raise some money for this incredible charity and take the ‘leap of faith’."

Bea: "I'm up for the challenge because at my age, it’s difficult not to live within one’s comfort zone and this adventure takes me far out of mine - the height, people watching me, the unknown etc all make me feel incredibly anxious. Also, Genesis Trust tackles head on, and in a very practical way, a very real problem in Bath - homelessness. So doing this is a win-win!"

Charlotte: "The children and I volunteered for a food bank during lockdown. It was rewarding for us all to know that we were making a small difference to those in need so when I saw that the school was raising funds for Genesis Trust I was keen to be involved. I’m slightly less keen on the idea of abseiling down the Abbey though! Heights aren’t really my thing so I will definitely be digging deep. Knowing that the children will be at the bottom cheering us on and that we’re raising money for this brilliant charity will no doubt be the encouragement needed to embrace the challenge."
