Story
I am a healthy fully functioning human on this planet. That makes me so privileged! But some of us are less fortunate, everyone has a story and pain that you are not seeing or hearing about…
Many years ago I met a beautiful human being, who was not alone in this life. She always has and always will carry this disease with her. But she never gives us, never stops trying and always pushed through all of the obstacles. She is strong, she is caring and she has decided to run a marathon! I was so moved and motivated by her spirit I joined with her, however I did not manage to get in. Whilst she will be running the London Marathon, I will do my best to support her and participate in Edinburgh Half Marathon to show my love and support for this amazing soul.
But she is not the only one suffering from this disease. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 11,000 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.
Cystic fibrosis comes with challenges, affecting our physical health, mental wellbeing and how we choose to live our lives. But our community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the charity uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis. And I choose to support them through raising money for a cause I know helps to make the quiet pain of these people’s existence a little bit more hopeful one lung at a time.
