💜 Supporting BIBS for World Prematurity Day
On 17 November, the world marks World Prematurity Day - a day that now holds deep, personal meaning for our family.
Our baby boy was born two months early. We were suddenly thrust into a world of incubators, alarms, and uncertainty - a world we never expected to navigate. But in the heart of that storm, we found something extraordinary: BIBS (Babies in Buscot Support) and the incredible staff at Buscot Ward.
From the moment we arrived, BIBS wrapped around us with warmth, guidance, and unwavering support. They weren’t just there for our baby’s medical needs - they were there for us, including our 3.5-year-old daughter. For the moments we were too scared to ask questions. For the nights and days we cried quietly beside the incubator (or, on a few occasions, in front of the nurses when I couldn’t bear the change of our baby’s 19 cm long feeding tube). For the days that felt impossibly hard, when we needed hope, reassurance, and someone who truly understood.
Their support was emotional, practical, and deeply human. They helped us feel like parents when everything felt out of our control. They celebrated every tiny milestone with us - every breath, every feed, every cuddle. And they continue to support families like ours every single day.
🌟 What Your Donation Supports
BIBS doesn’t just offer emotional support - they help Buscot Ward provide the very best care for premature and sick babies. Donations to BIBS help fund:
- State-of-the-art equipment like Giraffe incubators and resuscitation tools
- Smaller but meaningful items such as photo printers, premature baby clothes, and keepsake boxes
- Ongoing family support through playgroups for ex-Buscot babies and their families - a lifeline for many, especially 4–8 months after discharge when the emotional impact often surfaces. These playgroups are more than just meetups. They’re safe spaces where families can talk, share, and heal - surrounded by others who truly understand. Attending them has been incredibly important for me, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful that shared experience can be.
💜 Why We’re Fundraising
BIBS is a lifeline for families going through one of the most vulnerable, disorienting, and emotionally intense experiences imaginable. They deserve every penny we can raise - because they give so much, often quietly and behind the scenes, to help families find strength, connection, and healing.
So this World Prematurity Day, we’re fundraising to say thank you. To honour our journey. And to help BIBS continue their vital work for the next family who walks through those NICU doors.
If you can, please donate. Every contribution helps BIBS support more families like ours - and ensures that no one faces the NICU journey alone.
Thank you 💜
