When you are going through the Criminal Justice process after experiencing the trauma of sexual or domestic violence you are advised not to talk to anyone about what has happened to you in case the defence argues you have been 'coached' in your testimony.

The result of this is that you are unable to process and move on from your trauma until the trial is over, which takes months if not years. The experience of reporting to the police and of going to court is in itself hugely traumatic.

We are raising money to support the Phoenix Rose fund at Women and Health in Camden, which provides a course of therapies for women going through the Criminal Justice process after experiencing trauma. These therapies help the survivor to reconnect to their body, improve sleep, and soothe anxiety. They can be accessed while waiting for court, providing much-needed support and compassion at an incredibly stressful and alienating time.
