UMMAH GIRLS ACADEMY

Transforming the lives of the daughters of our Ummah.

It has been a dream long discussed to build a phenomenal academy to care for the orphan and poor girls of our Ummah. Only with the blessings of Allah, an opportunity to make this dream a reality has crossed our path.
Help us lay the foundation of Ummah Girls Academy with Ummah Welfare Trust. A ground breaking 70K project that seeks to cater for 300 Orphan and poor girls inshaAllah.

An Academy that will insha'Allah provide these girls with a safe and secure future. It will give them a home, an education and a bright future insha'Allah. A future safe from the harms of poverty. A future that will free them from a market of being sold and bought to get through life. Above all, a future that will protect the daughters of our ummah, their dignity and their honour.

Sunderbans (West Bengal) consists of approximately 3300 Muslim villages. Generally the Muslims of these villages are acutely poor. They have limited or no access to education both Islamic and modern, exceptionally low earnings ratio together with extremely low living standards.

The young girls of this region have been greatly affected by poverty and their surroundings.

There is a holiday resort in the region where the tourists / foreigners come to stay. They then pay for the young girls from the villages for their entertainment.  The parents of these girls are so poor that they sell their daughters in this manner to acquire money. Allahul Musta’an.

How can we let this happen to the girls of our Ummah? How can we stand and watch their honour being stripped and their dignity lost?

·        Many young girls from 10 years of age upwards, especially orphan girls are the most vulnerable and most likely to be forced into prostitution.

·        The local older men choose very young girls to marry, as is the tradition in the area, which has a psychological impact on these girls.

The future for these girls, especially orphan girls, is extremely bleak, they either live in poverty with no access to education and employment etc. or they are forced into prostitution.  It is therefore crucial that the honour and dignity of these innocent young girls is protected.

With this concern some of the elders from the local communities who have witnessed this exploitation and degradation of these poor young girls over the years, decided that something should be done to protect these vulnerable girls. Through this concern the idea to build a residential hostel for girls was thought of, where an environment would be created to protect, care and provided with education, skills training to better their lives, so that they can live their lives without the prospect of being forced into prostitution or sold as slaves.

The concerned locals agreed that they would be prepared to help in the construction of the hostel by providing their services voluntarily as builders, labourers etc.  The local brick supplier has volunteered to supply bricks at cost price, without making any profit.

The primary aim of the hostel will be to provide a safe, caring and secure environment where the girls can have access to education

We hope to insha’Allah accommodate a maximum of 300 girls, which will include residential quarters, class rooms, canteen, shops and Masjid.

The hostel will provide Modern, Religious and vocational based skills training courses.

We hope this project will provide for as many needs of these girls as possible insha’Allah. But we need YOUR help to make this a fruitful reality. Let us become like the pious predecessors of the past who would stand up for the honour of even ONE Muslim women. We would never allow the honour of our own daughters to be at stake. Let us not allow this to be the fate of the rest of the daughters of our Ummah insha’Allah.

Lillah and Sadaqah donations accepted.

May Allah Reward you immensely for your generosity.
