Encephalitis is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed (swollen).
It can be life-threatening and requires urgent treatment in hospital.
Anyone can be affected, but the very young and very old are most at risk.
The Encephalitis Society is a brain inflammation charity. Their overall aim is to increase global awareness of encephalitis to save lives and build better futures. They aim to do this through providing support and information, raising awareness and collaborating on research.
As many of you know, at only 22, Charlie Watson lost his battle with the illness on 25th October 2017. In memory of him, we thought we would do our bit to help raise awareness and money for The Encephalitis Society.
Charlie absolutely loved his sports. He was always playing rugby, hockey, golf, cricket and whatever sport was on offer! Cricket was a real passion of Charlie’s and that was shown with him representing Devon for many years! So, on August 5th, we are organising an 8 a side tournament in Charlie’s memory. The tournament will start at 9am at Heathcoat Cricket Club Knightshayes and anyone is welcome!
***Following the cancellation of the Bath Half, Tim Penberthy-Hutchings has now signed up for the Great West Run on 14th October. We will still be combining the donations raised from the half marathon and the 8 a side tournament onto this page.***
Thanks for your support!
