Story
As many of you are no doubt aware, I had a cardiac arrest in Easter 2015 while out on a bike ride.
My survival chances were about 10%.
There are a number of reasons why I survived - not least the intervention of "CPR Mike" and the assistance I received from my fellow Cranleigh CC riders.
However, another key factor was the speedy arrival of an air ambulance that flew me to St Georges in Tooting from Dorking.
The air ambulance service is almost entirely funded via voluntary contributions. Therefore, I have decided to raise some money for them by riding 5000 miles from now to Christmas 2017. That's equivalent of riding from London to Beijing. I will give 5p for every mile I ride (i.e. £250 if I do the full 5000 miles). If you wanted to support me, that would be hugely appreciated. Half a penny per mile would add up to £25.
For what its worth, I have ridden pretty regularly in 2016 and have only clocked up 2300 miles, so I will need to get on with it to hit the 5000.
