Support our (tag team) 24 hour cycle at work to raise money for our friend Chelimo in Kenya so she will not have to undergo female genital mutilation. 

On the 1st February at midday we will begin a cycle in the Sky work gym, tag teaming for 24 hours. We hope to live stream the event (webpage T.B.A). Lets break a sweat and help to send this 13 yr old to school!

Here is Chelimo's Story:

Chelimo is just thirteen years old. This photo was taken a few weeks ago when she arrived at a friends home seeking refuge from female genital mutilation.

Chelimo lived in alone in Kapenguria, Kenya with her abusive alcoholic father. Her disabled mother had left the family home with her two younger daughters to stay with grandparents. Her older sister ran away to stay with her aunt.

Chelimo is  bright determined and confident young girl who should be joining secondary school in February but the family have no money to send her. 

Her father ants her to undergo FGM and be married. 

A few weeks ago Chelimo ran away from her father to Domtila's house. Chelimo remembered Domtila (a member of the charity organisation Beyond FGM) after hearing her speak at her school.

Chelimo had nowhere else to go. 

If we can raise enough money BeyondFGM.co.uk will help send Chelimo to boarding school so she will not have to be cut and will break the cycle.

The group are currently working to reconcile the parents and find a way to get Chelimo to school. But of course funding is always a massive hurdle. 

It costs £400 to send Chelimo to boarding school for one year, but the more we can save the more girls we can help. Beyond FGM is also in the process of building a center in Kenya to help girls seeking refuge from female genital mutilation. Whatever funds are raised past the £400 mark will go towards completing the center.
