Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in 2007 I was badly injured playing rugby whilst in the Navy, I tore all four ligaments in my knee, broke my knee, tore my meniscus and crushed my perineal
Nerve resulting in drop foot for life. I was told I would never walk unaided again I would never run and never take part in any sports. Because of injuries and multiple
Operations I've had to have to rebuild my
Leg and stabilise my foot I've got many other medical conditions including Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, under active thyroid, depression and anxiety. I have steroid injections into my back and hips and everyday I take a cocktail of medications just to function. I'm not the sort of person to give up so I didn't I worked hard and trained hard and found a new lease of life around my
Injuries. This might come to a shock to most of you but I live everyday in pain but I won't be beaten. The warrior games is stage one to what I hope is a new future. I want to compete on the commonwealth games and the Paralympics. You never know aim high and achieve.

As most of you know I tried to get into the Invictus Games this year but unfortunetly  I wasn't picked but I was chosen to be part of the team for the warrior games which is a huge honour.

These games are a lot like the Invictus games but aren't as advertised and well known  I am part of a small team that has been chosen to represent the British team  The games are for serving and Veteran personnel who are and have been injured through service.

Here's the official wording

The 2017 Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games will be held June 30 – July 8 in Chicago, Ill. Approximately 250 seriously wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans will participate in the competition. The wounded warrior athletes will represent the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Special Operations Command.

Teams include active-duty service members and veterans with upper-body, lower-body, and spinal cord injuries; traumatic brain injuries; visual impairment; serious illnesses; and post-traumatic stress. They will go head-to-head in archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, shooting, swimming, wheelchair basketball, track and field, engaging in friendly competition and experiencing the healing power of sports.

2017 marks the first year the Warrior Games will be held entirely outside a military installation or a U.S. Olympic Committee facility. Bringing the Warrior Games to Chicago increases public exposure of the event and provides new opportunities to showcase the strength, resilience, and dedication of the participants. With downtown Chicago as the backdrop, the 2017 Games promise to be memorable for the wounded warrior athletes, enjoyable for their caregivers and family members, and inspirational and educational for spectators and other supporters.

The Warrior Games were established in 2010 as a way to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded warriors and to expose them to adaptive sports. Sponsored by the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo., the inaugural Warrior Games hosted approximately 200 wounded, ill and injured service members. During the following years, the Warrior Games expanded in size and scope.

This is the third time the DoD will lead the operational planning and coordination of the event; the U.S. Navy, in partnership with the City of Chicago, will host this year’s event.

I would like to raise money for the Sailors childrens charity  they are an amazing charity who help families  in time of need  they pay monthly figures to families and give families a holiday every year in holiday parks such as haven  they also do loads of other things they help. they've helped us when we needed them most and without them we wouldn't of been able to do what we have  they are a very small charity who don't receive much money so I'd like to use the honour I've been given to represent our British Military to raise some funds for a worthy cause

Thank you so much
