Story

Over the last six months the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has provided fantastic cancer care to my family with amazing staff and facilities.

The QE charity does an amazing job by providing additional specialist clinical staff & vital equipment that the NHS doesn't. This all helps make the QE a world class cancer hospital.

I wanted to help and say thank you so I signed up for the Velo, a 100 mile bike ride in Birmingham in May 2019, to raise money for the QE.

When I mentioned this in work, two colleagues Dominic Birchall & Paul Sumner stepped up straight away and as soon as our Chairman, Luke Williams, found out he got stuck in. Our fifth team member is Mark Hoban, a family friend and the Assistant Principle of a local school we have recently donated to as a business.

This won't be a dawdle though, we are going to train and push ourselves to complete the 100 miles in six hours, no mean feat for some of the team like me!

Please help us support this fantastic charity and provide more equipment and staff for the QE Hospital, every penny raised will help push us round in our target time of six hours.

The charity has:

- Provided funding for two machines costing £6m, the Cybernice and Pomotherapy machines for the cancer units.

- They provide funding to the Giles Trust specifically for brain tumours.

- They provide lollies for cancer patients going through chemo to remove the horrible taste you get in your mouth.

- They fund clinical research staff and a paediatric radiographer

- They provide pizza nights and breakfast clubs for 16-24 year olds staying there.

- They provided the funding for Fisher House, the military families home from home to stay in whilst their families were being treated.

By taking part in Velo 2019 you will be helping QEHB Charity to provide over and above what the NHS can fund.
