Story
I have chosen to shave my hair off on 01/01/15 because I want to raise money for a charity that I feel I have a connection with. I have had mixed reactions from people when I tell them what I plan to do; lots of people said 'why shave your head? Why not climb a mountain or run a marathon?' but I wanted to choose something that I wanted to do. I look forward to feeling cleansed and liberated and the excitement of wearing a wig, funky headscarf, hat or nothing while my hair grows back.
The Rainbow Centre for Children provides free and professional support to children and their families. They offer art, music and massage therapies, counselling, group work, support and information and rely entirely upon charitable donations for their existence. Situated in a quiet residential area of Bristol, The Rainbow Centre provides a haven of peace for children and their families suffering from the effects of a life threatening illness or death in the family.
As most people know, myself and my family tragically lost our brother and best friend, Julius in 2007, so I was so thrilled to discover The Rainbow Centre helped people going through similar things and I just knew I had found the perfect charity to support.
I wanted to get to know The Rainbow Centre and find out more about what they do for families so have planned to visit and meet with the Centre Director this month. If anybody would also like some more information, I am sure I can share with you after my visit.
I am donating my hair to Little Princess Trust who provide real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
