Story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is one of the less common types of dementia.

My mum was diagnosed with the condition in 2012. Every year we visit the Cerebral Function Unit at Salford Royal hospital who specialise in FTD research, diagnosis and awareness for carers and patients.

The idea of 7 times in 7 days is the sense of routine and obstacles faced in keeping to them. Unlike more common forms for dementia such as Alzheimers which effects the memory, FTD patients lose their cognitive skills which over time reduces the ability to engage and function in daily life.

The simplicity of routine which we can take for granted is often challenged by circumstances beyond our control. Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and the 3rd highest in the UK, with an elevation of 1,085m. Bad weather conditions can make a moderate route hazardous and potentially inaccessible. Likewise a bluebird day can clear the ways and make an adventure into a light stroll (fingers crossed).

I aim to start this challenge on October 13th 2016 and will post updates on the progress over the coming weeks.

In making this gesture I aim to raise awareness of the condition and with together with your donation pledge to support the Cerebral Function Unit in the fantastic work they do..

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we really appreciate your support.

Best wishes

Bryn
