We are bringing the good fight to a bad cancer

Story

During the summer I got into the habit of playing some cover songs on livestreams to entertain friends (and myself.) I wrote them all down into a songbook and by the end of the summer, well, it was all full, so what to do?

Just before Christmas 2019, my dad Frank passed away from oesophageal cancer. On the anniversary of his diagnosis, I played the whole songbook in a live stream (well, it was 7hours til 1am... then another 2hours the next morning.)

Over at https://give.everydayhero.com/ie/songs-for-frank we raised €3713.22 before the platform was closed (hence the move over to Just Giving.)

It's a really tough year for charities, most of their traditional fundraising has been crippled by the pandemic, so I decided to keep this running, playing livestreams here and there and hopefully helping
the Oesophageal Cancer Fund bring the good fight to a bad cancer.

About the charity

We are the national charity for Oesophageal Cancer in Ireland; bringing the good fight to a bad cancer. We aim to increase awareness of related symptoms to promote early diagnosis, raise funds for breakthrough research, and help improve the outcomes of anyone living with this difficult cancer.
