I was diagnosed with mouth cancer on 3rd February 2014 and my life suddenly came to a halt, I could no longer take anything for granted including my health. I was lucky to have caught the illness early and I had major head and neck surgery on 10th March 2014. The surgery involved having part of my tongue removed and reconstructed, a neck disection to remove some lymph nodes and some skin and an artery removed from my forearm to rebuild my tongue. It was not a pleasant time in my life but it has helped me to realise the importance of good friends and family, I could not have got through this without those people close to my heart who have supported me and loved me.
Three months on and life is great again, I have had the all clear and currently have no cancer. I am doing this race for life with the strong woman who have supported me. Cancer Research does so much to help find ways to combat cancer, please donate to help others who have to experience cancer.
