Story

On the 8th of November last year Karson suffered his worst seizure to date. Lasting around 45 minutes, needing two doses of diazepam and an ambulance crew. Karson still remained unresponsive for hours after the seizure had stopped and had to stay in hospital for 3 days. Once home and on antibiotics he was luckily back to himself within 2 weeks. Sadly just 2 days later he was rushed back to hospital with another scary tonic clonic seizure. Our hearts broke but not only for Karson. During this very sad traumatic time I noticed how withdrawn and sad my usually happy, bubbly girl was and it hurt even more because as her mummy I couldn't take away her pain and worry for her little brother. We forget just how much these situations can affect other family members, especially their siblings.

It was then I knew I needed to do something, not just for my Elyse but for so many other children like my daughter who have to unfortunately deal with situations that not your average child ever has to endure. It was then I came up with the idea of Super Siblings. A support group for siblings who have disabled brothers or sisters. And that was it, I knew I needed to make this happen.

So after many emails, phone calls and meetings with a man from west Sussex county council and the Manager and CEO of The Springboard Project I am so ecstatic to announce that after 4 months of planning, I am fortunate enough to have been asked to go into partnership with them to make Super Siblings happen.

So this is why I and a few close friends of mine will be walking the pillars to plough 20 mile walk for The Springboard Project. In the hope of raising some money to get this support group up and running.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am truly grateful for any sponsors no matter how big or small.
