Chernobyl Children's Life Line, Billericay & South Essex Link · 25 February 2015

Chernobyl Children's Lifeline has rebranded as CCLL - The Helping Hand for Ukraine and we prioritize help for children and their families in the northern areas of the country who are suffering from the ongoing conflict. We carry out our work without any political affiliation or bias.

Story

This is the official JustGiving page for the Billericay & South Essex Link of Chernobyl Children's Life Line.

Every year we bring 12 children and a leader from areas in Ukraine and Belarus affected by the Chernobyl disaster to Billericay for four weeks of much-needed fresh air and a programme fun-filled activities.

Our link (with the help of our many donors, sponsors and volunteers) organize daily outings for the children during the week (visiting London, going to the seaside, ice skating, swimming, riding roller coasters, visiting local schools, sailing, water skiing, etc.) The children stay (in pairs) with local host families, visit the eye doctor and dentist and go home with a year’s supply of vitamins.

For all of the children we host, this is their first time to travel abroad, fly on an airplane, see the ocean and, most importantly, breathe fresh air and eat uncontaminated food. The majority of the children are from poor families headed by single parents. Two of the children who visited from Ukraine in 2014 were orphans.

This is a worthwhile and rewarding experience for everyone involved. The children go home healthier with boosted immune systems and have hopefully had the experience of a lifetime. We appreciate any contribution you can make to the £9000 it costs to bring the children to Essex each year. Thanks for your help.
